New Delhi : It was a bright, sunny morning with a clear sky in Delhi Sunday as the Commonwealth Games cycling events got under way in the city but the weatherman said it could get a bit humid during the day.
“The day will be sunny but a cool breeze will be blowing. But humidity will be high, which may cause some discomfort for the athletes who are participating in the cycling event,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The cycling event began from Sansad Marg at 9 a.m. for the women’s 112-km Mass Start Road Race. As many as 83 athletes are participating.
This will be followed by the men’s 168-km version, beginning at the same spot at 1 p.m. This line-up includes 167 cyclists.
The met office said the skies will remain clear. The minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius, two notches above the average for this time of the season while the maximum is expected to hover around 34 degrees.
The maximum humidity level would be at a high of 91 percent while the minimum was 45 percent, the official said.
