Gold prices cross 20K mark

By IANS,

Mumbai: For the first time ever, gold crossed the psychological barrier of Rs.20,000 per tola (10 grams) Wednesday evening and trends indicated a further rise.

According to industry sources, gold prices touched Rs.20,100 after hovering between Rs.19,500 and Rs.19,900 since the beginning of the festival season with Ganesh Chaturthi.

Sources said that given the current trend, gold prices are expected to cross the Rs.20,500 mark before the onset of Diwali, early November, when Indians usually buy the precious metal.
