Delhi Police chief thanks force for Games work

New Delhi : Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal Saturday congratulated the capital’s police force for “maintaining security and managing traffic with minimum fuss to deliver maximum results” during the Commonwealth Games Oct 3-14.

“The Delhi Police force achieved the challenge of maintaining security and managing traffic with minimum fuss to deliver maximum results. It is indeed a success story,” said Dadwal.

A total of 28,483 Delhi Police personnel were deployed at different venues, besides other assignments during the 12-day mega sporting event.

“The police had been deployed at 12 competition venues, 12 training venues, CWG Village, Ashoka Hotel, Samrat Hotel. We were also involved with transportation, boarding and lodging facilities for athletes,” Dadwal told reporters.

The Delhi Police was reinforced with 189 companies of paramilitary forces and 1,450 commandos, the commissioner said.

“Army, air force, National Security Guard (NSG), paramilitary and state police forces also had a crucial role,” he added.

“We are grateful to the people of Delhi who displayed tremendous cooperation and support in maintaining the traffic and abiding by the Games lane reservations,” Dadwal said.
