Lucknow: If all goes well soon there would be a 15-storey magnificent Haj House on the banks of Gomti in Luknow. It is estimated to cost around Rs. 200 crore. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will construct it for which it has also invited financial bids.
According to LDA officials a proposal in this regard is under active consideration and will soon be given final shape. The Haj House would be of 15-storey building near Gomti Barrage. They said there is a patch of 23,000 sq metre of land which belongs to Uttar Pradesh State Haj Committee. The project would come up at this land. The project aims to facilitate to all those persons who are going for Haj. They will get all facilities under one roof – from preparing papers for Haj to stay before boarding a plane and stay on back home etc.
A design of the project has been prepared by Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) and has been submitted to LDA and LDA officials are stirring their mind to make the dream true. “We have invited financial bids for the project. Within a month or two it would be given a final shape,” said Vice-chairman Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan.
The magnificent building has been planned to give it a look of architectural beauty as is prevalent in Dubai. It would be of 15 floors with a swimming pool and a club on the terrace.
There would be two blocks – one a convention centre and the other one LDA block. There are plans that the land would be offered by Haj Committee but LDA will construct the building. “If LDA is allowed to own one block, it will help fetch its cost,” said a senior official.
The Haj House would be facing Gomti and on the 80 ft road. There would be an auditorium for 500 people on the first floor, besides two canteens, a banquet hall for 1000 people, two conference halls for 100 people each, special passport cell with 50 computers, four exhibition halls, one safe storage room.
Administrative block, PRO office, helpline cell, a record room, a place for offering prayers would be on the third floor.
There would also be a hospital of 20 beds on the fourth floor. On the 10th floor there would be office for office-bearers of the committee.
On the 12th floor chairman’s cabin has been proposed. On 13th and 14th floors there would be luxury suits, single accommodation suits and shared accommodation suits.
There would be two floors for parking. Lower ground floor and basement would be kept reserved for parking. Whereas lower ground floor will provide 90,500 sq ft space, basement floor will provide 99,000 sq ft of space.
“In this way we will have 1,89,500 sq ft of space on both the floors and there would be enough space for parking of vehicles,” said executive engineer RN Singh, associated with the project.
