SIO to work for social change in Jharkhand

Ramgarh: Aiming to prepare its cadre for social change, a three day convention of the Students’ Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) of the state of Jharkhand begins on Friday, the 21st of octrober’10, here at Chitarpur. The convention, which is themed on ‘Study, Struggle and Service: Students for Social Change’, is scheduled to discuss various issues related to students, education and educational campuses in the coming three days.

“SIO believes in study, struggle, service and preparing its cadres for social change,” said Suhail K K, National President of the organization, while addressing a press conference on Thursday in Ranchi. “We have launched a three-month nationwide campaign starting from October,” he added.

Commenting on the educational policies he said, “The Right to Education Act has been enacted but there has been no visible implementation of the same so far.”

While talking to TCN, SIO state president Shariq Ansar said, “The objectives of the convention is to twofold: One, to prepare our cadre to face new challenges and the Second, to chalk out some concrete plan of action to intervene in campus politics”.

“It will also discuss the role of students in the development of Jharkhand” he said adding the organisation is working in the state since 1982 and it has a cadre of around five thousand students and youth across the state.
