New Delhi : Over 1,000 low-cost houses will be ready for slum dwellers in the capital within six months, Delhi Urban Development Minister A.K. Walia said Tuesday.
Walia said Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is constructing as many as 1,024 such units in Dwarka area in southwest Delhi, near a Delhi metro station, and the process is likely to be completed by March next year.
The minister along with DUSIB officials undertook inspection of the area and has started identifying the eligible families for its allotment.
Also, during a visit to night shelters in the walled city, he asked officials to complete upgradation of all 64 such homes by Oct 31 before winter sets in.
