Jobs for party workers killed by CPI-M when Trinamool wins: Mamata

By IANS,

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Saturday promised a job to a family member of all her party workers who fell victim to Communist Party India-Marxist (CPI-M)-sponsored atrocities, once her party comes to power in West Bengal.

“I am proud of the Trinamool Congress activists, who had become martyrs as a result of CPI-M atrocities. The death of the Trinamool supporters will result in uprooting the CPI-M from power in Bengal,” said Banerjee in a rally at Jamalpur in the state’s Burdwan district.

“Once my party comes to power in the state, we will give job to a family member of each victim,” she said.

“Death of one party activist will give birth to several party supporters. So CPI-M will not be able to prevent the Trinamool from coming to power in the forthcoming assembly election by killing my party supporters,” she said.

Banerjee’s rally was held in Jamalpur after two Trinamool supporters were allegedly killed by CPI-M activists Sep 14. However, the district police Saturday morning arrested four people in the murder case.

Addressing the gathering, Banerjee criticised the district police chief for working under the directives of the CPI-M and not in the best interest of the common people. She also threatened to take stern action against the officer after her party comes to power.

“We will find him out, wherever he takes shelter either in Tamil Nadu or in Telangana,” she said.

The Superintendent of Police, R. Rajshekharan, against whom Trinamool has repeatedly brought allegations of bias towards the ruling party, has recently applied for a transfer to his home state Tamil Nadu.

Banerjee also urged the people to set up committees in their areas to prevent the CPI-M cadres from carrying out atrocities.

“The CPI-M has realized that they will be thrown out of power and are resorting to violence by giving shelter to contract killers. CPI-M will not be able to retain power with arms politics,” said Banerjee.

She alleged that CPI-M leaders are busy in buying arms and ammunition using the funds allotted by the central government for development works.

“The central government has allotted Rs.500 crore to three drought-hit states including West Bengal, but here, instead of helping the farmers, the state government will utilised the money for buying arms and ammunitions,” she claimed.

She also alleged that the CPI-M has prepared a blue-print of terrorism to be carried out during the Puja days.

The Trinamool Congress chief urging her party supporters to remain alert during the festival said: “My party will not bow down before the CPI-M sponsored atrocities but only before the common people.”

She also announced that she will lead a march between two perennial trouble-spots of the state from Mangalkote in Burdwan to Nanoor in Birbhum.
