Bhubaneswar: Restrictions on the movement of passenger trains during night in Maoist-affected areas of Orissa and West Bengal will continue till Sep 27, a statement issued by the East Coast Railway said here Tuesday.

“In view of security reasons, running of the passenger trains on a section between Kharagpur in West Bengal and Rourkela in Orissa and another section between Kharagpur and Adra in West Bengal will continue to remain suspended from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. up to Sep 27,” the statement said.

Accordingly, some trains have been diverted, re-scheduled and regulated, it said.

The railway has been restricting the movement of passenger trains during the night on the Maoists-affected route due to security reasons, following the May 28 Gyaneshwari Express sabotage in West Bengal in which 148 people were killed.
