New Delhi: With just a day left, Delhi is all geared up for the Ayodhya verdict. While due to Commonwealth Games strong security apparatus is already in place, security agencies have sounded alert and have taken a series of steps to avert any mishap on the much-awaited day.
For instance, expecting troubles from bordering states like UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi police has planned special checks at the border areas before and after the verdict. It is particularly monitoring every suspicious movement around border areas with no vehicle being allowed without special checks at the check posts.
Ban on large gatherings on road
Delhi Police is already stretched because of its deployment in the Commonwealth Games. So the real challenge before the Police is to avert any mishap before and after the announcement of the Ayodhya verdict.
In order to meet the challenge the cops have planned to mobilize reserve forces and battalions at the potential troubled spots in each district. If necessary the police might ban large gatherings on road on Thursday.
The Delhi government has put special security arrangements at around 470 buildings and iconic monuments to avoid any Jama Masjid kind of attack in the run up to the impending verdict.
The ban on bulk SMS and MMS services also continues here. Various restricted areas have been identified where pillion riders are not allowed.
Meanwhile school authorities in Delhi have not planned any special security measures because schools will anyway be closed for 17 days by the time the verdict comes up.
Police is also in continuous touch with the religious leaders of each community and has requested them to maintain peace.
24×7 monitoring of news
In order to avert any mishap because of sensational coverage of the Ayodhya verdict, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has established a 24×7 control room to monitor, what it calls as “sensitive news stories.” Started since Monday night, in this control room the officials are working in three shifts. In case of any sensational news story being broadcast, they are supposed to alert principal director general Neelam Kapur.
Appeal for peace by Imams
The All-India Organizations of Imams of Mosques (AIOIM) has asked “lakhs of Imams of mosques” across the country to give “a message of peace, communal harmony and national integration in the sermons before the Friday prayers.”
Regarding the maintenance of communal harmony as “our duty and moral responsibility”, the AIOIM has also called upon the Imams to make sure that anti-social elements don’t disturb it.
In a simultaneous appeal the All India Milli Council has also asked Muslims to avoid any kind of celebration in case of favorable judgment and not to protest in case the judgment is against the Muslim side.
