Sensex up 55 points in early trade

Mumbai : A benchmark index of Indian equities Wednesday morning opened in the green and was ruling 55 points higher in early trade.

The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), opened at 20,086.89 points, and in about 15 minutes was ruling at 20,160.77 points, up 55.91 points or 0.28 percent from its previous close at 20,104.86 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 6,029.5 points, up 0.1 percent.

Broader markets were in the positive. The BSE midcap was trading 0.41 percent up and the BSE smallcap index 0.7 percent higher.
