New Delhi : A Central Reserve Police Force trooper posted at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters here fired 15 rounds from his rifle Sunday night. The trooper , however, said the gun went off when he was cleaning it, police said Monday.
“Shamshad Ali, a CRPF constable, at around 11.45 p.m. Sunday fired around 15 rounds from his INSAS assault rifle. No one was injured in the event,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
During interrogation, Ali told the police that it was a mistake that happened while he was cleaning the rifle.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code for endangering public life.
“We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. We are also questioning his colleagues and people present there,” said the officer.
