NASA delays flight of Endeavor to avoid space jam

By IANS,

Washington : NASA has postponed the launch of its Endeavor space shuttle by 10 days after a scheduling conflict with Russia’s Progress space freighter.

NASA announced the postponement Monday following talks with the Russian Space Agency and other space station partners over the weekend, RIA Novosti reported.

“The delay removes a scheduling conflict with a Russian Progress supply vehicle scheduled to launch April 27 and arrive at the station April 29,” NASA said on its website.

“The launch of space shuttle Endeavor’s STS-134 mission (has been targeted) for 3.47 p.m. on Friday, April 29.”

The exact time of Endeavor’s liftoff will be set April 19.

Endeavor will deliver a $2 billion particle detector to be mounted outside the ISS. This will be Endeavour’s final flight and the next-to-last shuttle mission.
