Israel’s arms manufacturer sues Georgia for $100mn debt

By IANS/RIA Novosti,

Tel Aviv : A leading defence electronics manufacturer of Israel has filed a lawsuit with a British court against the Georgian government over an alleged $100-million debt.

“The suit is against the Georgian government for failing to pay money to the company for arms supplies under several contracts that were signed in 2007,” said Elbit Systems’ spokesman while declining to specify the nature of arms.

In 2007, Georgia reportedly had bought 40 unmanned aerial vehicles Hermes 450 from Elbit Systems.

The Israeli company also helped Georgia modernise its Su-25 (Frogfoot) jet aircraft manufactured in Tbisili, Georgia’s capital, during the said period.
