Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) : A South Korean couple was arrested near the India-Nepal border here Thursday on charges of illegally entering the country, police said.
Kim Kwang Bok and his wife Chang Hyan Jung were nabbed by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Gayriphanta town.
“The two were arrested after they failed to produce their visa, passport or necessary travel documents,” Superintendent of Police D.K. Rai told reporters in Lakhimpur Kheri, some 150 km from Lucknow.
“The two are from Seoul. Investigations are being carried out to gather more information about them,” added Rai.
Meanwhile, according to police sources, preliminary investigations revealed the duo had been living in Dhangarh town in Nepal for the last three years.
“The two were teaching at a computer institute there,” said a police source.
