We will have to plan for Sehwag and Warner, says Cameron White

By IANS,

New Delhi : Deccan Chargers all-rounder Cameron White said Monday that his team will spend a lot of time on planning to stop Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag and opener David Warner when the two teams clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here Tuesday.

With three losses from four games, the Kumar Sangakkara-led Deccan Chargers are lying at the seventh position in the 10-team league. Their win against Royal Challengers Bangalore last week was also their maiden win at home in the IPL.

White, Australia’s Twenty20 captain, feels results in the three lost matches could have gone either way and the tournament is still wide open for Deccan Chargers, the 2009 champions.

“Although we have lost three games, but we could have won those matches easily. The result could have gone either way. We have shown that we can win at home now. We have a brand new team and doesn’t matter what the conditions are, I think we have the team,” said White, who is yet to feature in the IPL.

“It seems every one is beating everyone and there is no unbeaten team so far. The tournament is wide open and it is benefit of not starting too well. The top team has two or three wins,” he said.

White said the team meeting would see a lot of discussions on Sehwag and Warner, who played a crucial role in Daredevils’ first win this season Sunday against Pune Warriors.

“We haven’t had our team meeting yet but I m sure there will be a lot of time spent on planning about those two (Sehwag and Warner). Delhi have a lot of good players and restricting and taking wickets will be key,” said White.

Asked if he had seen the wicket at the Ferozeshah Kotla, White said: “Yes saw it briefly this morning. Expect it to be a little low and slow and it will spin.”

White believes Deccan Chargers have a good all-round team.

“We have a good all-round team and in (Amit) Mishra and (Pragyan) Ojha we have two of the best Indian spinners and two of the best fast bowlers as well. Doesn’t matter what the conditions are, we have the team,” he said.

White also had words of praise for his fellow teammate Bharat Chipli.

“Chipli is one of the leading run-scorers in the tournament. He started with Bangalore so I knew him before we moved here (Deccan Chargers) so it’s good to see him come good. He is doing quite well. He showed glimpses in the tournament of what he can do,” he said.
