Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress Thursday complained to the Election Commission against the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) saying it was defaming Trinamool leaders by claiming they were using black money to fund their election campaign.
“We have received a complaint from the Trinamool saying that CPI-M leaders are defaming and insulting the Trinamool leaders by alleging that they are using black money in vote canvassing. A copy of the defamation suit filed by the Trinamool leaders against the CPI-M leader has been attached with the complaint,” said state Joint Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar.
Earlier, the CPI-M complained that the Trinamool was using a huge amount of black money in election campaigns and urged the EC to probe the matter. “We have forwarded the CPI-M’s complaint to the EC in Delhi. The Trinamool’s complaint will also be forwarded to the EC,” said Sarkar.
