Patna: Bihar’s Opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has demanded resignation from Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi saying he has no moral right to continue on the post after senior IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s revelation that Modi during the 2002 Gujarat riot allegedly asked top police officers of the state to let the rioting mobs vent their anger to teach Muslims a lesson.
“Modi’s role in the post-Godhra Gujarat riots case has been proved beyond an iota of doubt following the revelation by the senior police official. The latter should quit the chief ministership to allow the ongoing investigation without being influenced by him,” said RJD spokesman Shakeel Ahmad Khan at a press conference here in Patna on Sunday.

He further said that Modi should be charged with mass murder. He also asked Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to clarify his party’s stand on this sensitive issue. Nitish’s party JD-U is the alliance partner of ruling NDA in Bihar.
On the other hand RJD’s ally Lok Janshakti Party has organized a protest rally in Patna City demanding removal of Narendra Modi from the chief ministership and imposition of President’s Rule in Gujarat.
“It is very shameful that a person who was entrusted with the responsibility of people’s protection was involved in the mass killing of innocent citizens. His crime is not less than a terrorist so he should be charged with sedition and murder” demanded LJP leader Mohd. Kamal Prevez while leading the protest rally.
A large number of people participated in the protest. The protesters torched the effigy of Narendra Modi.
