Thiruvananthapuram : Air India cancelled four domestic flights and one flight to Sharjah Thursday on account of the ongoing strike by about 600 pilots, an official said here.
Two domestic flights each from airports here and Kochi, and the flight to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Kozhikode were cancelled.
“We have asked passengers who have booked on cancelled flights to collect a full refund and wherever possible, we have accommodated them on other airlines,” the official added.
However, not a single flight of the Air India Express, which operates exclusively on Gulf routes, has been affected, the official added.
A large number of people from Kerala travel regularly to various Middle East destinations on Air India Express flights.
The pilots of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), once on the payroll of erstwhile Indian Airlines, struck work Tuesday midnight demanding parity in pay with their counterparts in Air India and other issues related to work conditions.
