New Delhi : The Congress Tuesday refused to comment on a leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report faulting the Prime Minister’s Office for letting Suresh Kalmadi capture the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee and said Sports Minister Ajay Maken had already made a statement in parliament.
“The report is not yet official. The minister tried to give a reply but was unfortunately disrupted… Let the government come with a detailed reply,” Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said.
He also criticised the opposition for disrupting proceedings of the two houses, saying that they were doing it when the government was ready to give reply to issues being raised by them.
“The attitude of the opposition is not constructive,” Ahmed said.
He said the BJP had refused to comment on Karnataka Lokayukta report on illegal mining till it was submitted to the government.
Ahmed also indicated that the Congress will use the Lokayukta report to nail the BJP during discussion on the issue of corruption.
He said BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had put the onus of the controversial Reddy brothers having been made ministers in Karnataka on her party colleague Arun Jaitley and the Congress will raise all issues which led to loss of exchequer in Karnataka.
Maken Tuesday said the previous National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government was responsible for installing Kalmadi as the chief of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.
