Tata Motors considering Nano assembly plant abroad

New Delhi : Indian automobile giant Tuesday said that it was considering to set up an assembly plant in a foreign country for its entry-level passenger car Nano.

“We are looking at many countries, where we can start the completely knocked down (CKD) assembly units,” P.M. Telang, managing director – India operations, tata Motors, told reporters here.

According to Telang, the company was considering to export the completely built units of the car to Southeast Asian and Latin American countries and then follow this up with assembly units.

“Important markets for the Nano are in South Asian countries, ASEAN and Latin American region,” Telang said.

Currently the company exports fully-built Nano vehicle to Sri Lanka and Nepal.
