10 arrested for Rs.3 crore Delhi robbery

New Delhi : The sensational robbery of Rs.3 crore in east Delhi last month has been solved with the arrest of 10 people, Delhi Police said Sunday.

Rajesh Kumar Goyal, a resident of Shakarpur in east Delhi, registered a complaint July 20 that four robbers waylaid his car and robbed him of Rs.15 lakh.

He told police that the robbers managed to flee with only Rs.15 lakh in haste and they could not rob another Rs.25 lakh which was there in the car.

Investigating the incident, police, however, found that the actual amount robbed was Rs.3 crore in cash and the five people were involved.

Four people — Jaspreet, Gurdev, Fahim and Fakru — were arrested from various parts of the city and more than Rs.1 crore in cash recovered from them, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Prabhakar.

Six more people — Harpreet, Arun Verma, Bijender, Dilshad, Laxman and Sukhdev Singh — were arrested Saturday and an additional Rs.1 crore was recovered from them, he said. Two more accused — Avinash and Guddu — are still untraced and on the run.

“All the people so far arrested in the case are drivers,” said Prabhakar.
