Haryana enhances annuity for freedom fighters

By IANS,

Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Monday said his government will provide the highest annuity in the country to gallantry award winners and freedom fighters from the state.

He said that from Monday itself, the state government has decided to enhance the monthly pension of freedom fighters and their widows from Rs.11,000 to Rs.15,000.

Addressing the Independence Day function at Bhiwani, 300 km from here, Hooda said Haryana was proud of the supreme sacrifices and services of its martyrs, freedom fighters, serving soldiers and ex-servicemen.

“We cannot pay our debt towards them but we have tried to provide them better facilities so that we could at least fulfill our responsibilities,” he said.
