Panaji : Nearly 50 supporters of Anna Hazare were arrested Monday as they tried to storm into the Goa chief minister’s official residence in Panaji. They were later released.
The activists of India Against Corruption (IAC) who were demanding to know Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s position on the Hazare-proposed Jan Lokpal bill, were bundled to the Panaji police station, where they were released on individual personal bonds after Kamat assured to meet the delegation within the next two days.
“We want to know what Kamat has to say about the Jan Lokpal bill. He should make his cards open on the issue. We also want him to table the Lokayukta bill in the assembly as soon as possible because IAC believes that he is responsible for stalling it,” IAC spokesperson in Goa Satish Sonak told reporters after being released.
“We went to his house to make sure he knows that the people want to know how committed he is to eradicate corruption,” Sonak said.
Kamat was not available for comment.
