Islamabad : An academy is being set up to promote the culture and traditions of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Gibran Adeel Cultural Academy will impart training in singing, artwork, wax work, lacquer painting techniques, stone carving, dancing, crafting, calligraphy, visual, performing and physical art, said Parvez Khan Sabatkhel, culture department director.
A two-storeyed building being built at a cost of Rs.38 million will house the academy, the Dawn reported.
Sabatkhel said: “The aspirants will be imparted skills at the academy for making local musical instruments like Rabab, Tabla, flute and harmonium.”
The academy is being built in the memory of Gibran Adeel, son of Awami National Party Senator Haji Mohammad Adeel.
“We also have plans to utilise the new facility for musical concerts, poetry sessions, social and cultural gatherings,” said Sabathkhel.
