Posts of about 96,000 teachers sanctioned in MP

Bhopal: About 96,000 posts of school teachers have been sanctioned in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled state. Giving a fresh impetus to the efforts for improvement in quality of education and its universalisation, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday sanctioned 95,599 posts of teachers. This decision will entail a burden of Rs. 742.57 crore.

The sanctioned posts of teacher include 31,599 assistant teachers; 6,383 headmasters (primary schools), 26,026 teachers; 5,547 headmasters (middle schools); 13,022 part-time instructors (health and physical education) and 13,022 posts of part-time instructors (arts education).

The cabinet has decided that till these posts are filled through prescribed process, arrangement of teachers will be made in the schools by appointing guest faculty against the posts.

Other related decisions of the cabinet

Girls’ hostels in 201 development blocks: The cabinet sanctioned establishment of girls’ hostels in 201 educationally backward development blocks in the state. This will help girls of remote areas complete their middle education while staying in these hostels. Each of these hostels will be 100-seater and a sum of Rs. 15.56 lakh will be spent annually on each hostel. Girl students of class IX to XII belonging to all the sections of society will be able to stay in these hostels. All the tribal development blocks are included in these development blocks. These hostels will be meant for the girls for whom educational facilities are not available in their village or within a proper distance.

Modern computer labs in two thousand schools: The cabinet also decided to establish modern computer labs in 2000 government high/higher secondary schools in the state under ICT@School Scheme. Through them, students will be imparted computer-enabled education. Labs will be set up in private-public partnership mode in which government’s investment will be 40 per cent and 60 per cent of the private sector. Every school will have 95 computers. The private investor will be allowed to make commercial use of the lab beyond school time and will be responsible for its maintenance for five years. ([email protected])
