Panaji : An Israeli drug dealer, allegedly linked to the Goa home minster’s son, Friday said he suspected that the police was trying to kill him.
Yaniv Benaim alias Atala was presented in the district and sessions court here for judicial remand by the Central Bureau of Investigation following his extradition from Peru, where the drug dealer had escaped while he was out on bail last year.
“I apologise for jumping bail, but people told me that the police are trying to kill me. I was suffering from paranoia, therefore I escaped from India,” said Atala, who along with seven police personnel of the anti-narcotics cell, was arrested as part of the police-politician-drug mafia nexus.
Judge Nutan Sardessai ordered 14 days judicial custody for Atala.
The nexus was exposed when Atala’s Swedish girlfriend Lucky Farmhouse posted videos of her lover, boasting of his links to the drug mafia on the social networking site www.youtube.com.
Farmhouse and the international media allege links between home minister Ravi Naik’s son Roy and the drug mafia.
