New Delhi : In a warm gesture, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday sent flowers and a “get well soon” message to Anna Hazare, who is recuperating at a hospital in Gurgaon in the wake of the 12-day fast he undertook on the issue of a stronger Lokpal bill.
A team of doctors is keeping a close watch over Anna Hazare’s health parameters at the Medanta Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon.
The 74-year Hazare broke his 12-day fast Sunday after parliament agreed in principle to accept his three demands for a stronger Lokpal bill, and was admitted to the hospital the same day.
Since then, his health has shown consistent improvement although he still looks very weak, doctors say.
Manmohan Singh’s intervention played a key role in the compromise brokered between the government and activists of Team Anna that led to parliament adopting “a sense of the House” resolution in a special sitting Saturday on three key demands of Hazare – bringing the lower bureaucracy within the ambit of the law, framing of the citizens’ charter, and setting up of Lokayuktas in states based on a model central Lokpal legislation.
