New Delhi : Technology conglomerate Thales Tuesday said it has bagged a contract to build an automatic fare collection system for the Gurgaon MetroRail.
“Thales will develop a central back-office system to deliver the complete automatic fare collection system for the Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon and will manufacture and install 72 automatic gates and associated IT (information technology) systems at all stations,” Thales in India said in a statement.
The gates will control the exit and entry at metro stations.
The company did not divulge the value of the deal.
The Gurgaon metro is a new rail transit system which will be connected to the Delhi metro. The project is scheduled to be completed by January 2013.
The new metro line is the first in the country to be privately financed. It will have a total length of 6.1 km which includes six stations and will get connected to the Delhi Metro via Sikanderpur station.
