New Delhi: On 19th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, Popular Front of India (PFI) organized a dharna (sit-in) in various parts of the country including one at Jantar Mantar in the national capital New Delhi on 6th December 2011.
PFI demanded legislation by the Indian Parliament for rebuilding Babri Masjid at its original site. A PFI delegation under the leadership of its Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahiman also submitted memorandum to President and Prime Minister of India and conveyed that only rebuilding the Masjid on the same site would serve justice and restore the faith of millions of upright citizens of India–Muslims and non-Muslims.
PFI also demanded action against the culprits behind the demolition.
“The criminal case filed in 1992 against those who demolished Babri Masjid is indefinitely delayed. The Central Government has not initiated any action on the recommendations of Justice Liberhan Commission which enquired the events that led to the destruction of the Masjid” said E. M. Abdul Rahiman.
The group also demanded the government to expedite the proceedings of Supreme Court of India for a final verdict in the appeal cases of title suit pending against the controversial High Court verdict.
