Islamabad : Electricity supply to a Pakistani provincial minister’s residence was disconnected as he had not paid the bills and restored only after he coughed up Rs.300,000 to clear the outstanding dues.
Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro’s home went dark after the Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited (KESC) disconnected the power supply due to non-payment of dues, reported the News International.
The power firm said the provincial law minister had not paid his electricity bill for four months and owed over Rs.300,000.
Later, the power firm issued a statement saying: “Bill has been paid today (Monday), based on which the power to the law minister’s official residence has been reconnected”.
Soomro told reporters that electricity to his Karachi residence was disconnected despite the bills being paid.
He threatened to teach the power firm a lesson for disconnecting his electricity without any reason.
