Islamabad: Pakistan will defend its territorial frontiers at all costs, said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani following a NATO air strike that left two dozen soldiers dead.
Gilani said there will be no compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty and legitimate interests and its territorial frontiers will be defended.
In a policy statement in the national assembly Thursday on the situation arising out of the Nov 26 NATO attack, he said in the past Pakistan had extended every cooperation to members of the international community in the counter-terrorism domain.
The prime minister added that Pakistan’s cooperation has certain well defined red-lines, including sovereignty, equality and mutual respect, as well as no unilateral action inside Pakistan and no transgression of its territorial frontiers, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The death of 24 Pakistani soldiers in the NATO attack caused outrage in the country. Islamabad cut off NATO supplies through the country, ordered the US to vacate the key Shamsi airbase and boycotted an international conference that focussed on Afghanistan’s future.
