Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M]) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today launched a website as part of the efforts by several religious bodies to check alleged conversion of Kashmiri youths to Christianity.
Addressing a gathering of Islamic scholars and preachers, Mirwaiz stressed on the need to use technology and modern equipments for countering conversion attempts, he also urged to strengthen the religious institutions and Islamic banking.
Mirwaiz president of Mutahida Majlis Amal, expressed serious concern over the activities of Christian missionaries and stressed on the need for Baitul Maal committees to help and support needy people.
A pastor was arrested on charges of converting several Kashmiri youths to Christianity last month. After which Muslim leaders in the Valley got together under the banner of MMU and launched a campaign against ‘conversions’ in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz also asserted on the need to form a committee consisting of the financial experts who could well strengthen the Islamic Banking concept in the Valley as Jammu and Kashmir since times is a Muslim Majority state.
Mirwaiz made an appeal to the religious scholars and preachers to play their part in spreading the true meanings of Islam in both letter and spirit.
On the occasion Mirwaiz inaugurated a website ‘http://www.tahafuzeiman.org’ in order to curb the conversion menace in the valley.
He also said that some people with vested interests were hatching conspiracies to allure Kashmiri youth to social evils like liquor.
