New Delhi: A Class 12 girl student in west Delhi tried to commit suicide after a youth sought to blackmail her with an obscene MMS clip, police said Saturday. She is under treatment while the youth has been detained and is being interrogated.
The accused, identified as Jeetu, 20, resident of Nihal Vihar, was held by police Saturday morning.
The incident came to light when the girl Friday night tried to kill herself by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. “She was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where her condition is said to be stable,” said a police official.
Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V.Renganathan said the girl told police Saturday that Jeetu, who kept forcing her for a relationship, had made her obscene MMS clip after taking her photographs from her album.
“He had threatened her a few days ago that if she will not be ready for an illicit relationship with him, he will make the MMS public. When she did not heed his threat, Jeetu gave the clip to some of his friends,” he said.
According to Renganathan, when the girl came to know about it, she tried to commit suicide.
“Jeetu has been apprehended and is being interrogated by police. No case regarding the incident has been registered yet. Any further decision will be taken after the probe is completed,” he added.
