Fire at Chandigarh high court

Chandigarh : Just two days after a major fire broke out in the record room of the Punjab and Haryana High Court here, another incident of fire was reported from the court premises Tuesday.

According to officials, fire broke out in the rear of court number 16 here at around 8 p.m. “We had sent one fire tender to the spot. It was a minor fire that was controlled very quickly,” a fire brigade official said.

On Sunday, over 25,000 files related to civil revisions and motor accident claims were destroyed in a fire that broke out in the high court’s record room.

A three-member committee of Justice S.K. Mittal, Justice Ranjit Singh and Justice M.M.S. Bedi was constituted to find out the cause of Sunday’s fire and the people responsible for the incident.
