Hyderabad: British chipmaker Imagination Technologies is in talks with two Indian technology companies to develop applications and provide services for its products, said a company official here Thursday.
Chief executive officer Hossein Yassaie told reporters that talks were on with two early stage technology companies for development of products for smartphones, computers, mobiles and media players.
The firm, which also announced completion of the acquisition of HelloSoft for $47 million, said it had a wider strategy to develop its Indian research and development operations.
Imagination has over 150 employees at its two R&D centres in Hyderabad and Pune.
He said the acquisition of Hellosoft would strengthen Imagination’s R&D position in the Indian market and enhance its product portfolio to include voice over IP (internet protocol) and video over IP products, as well as strengthen its wireless connectivity capabilities.
Krishna Yarlagadda, president of Imagination Technologies, USA, and former president and CEO of Hellosoft Inc., said Hellosoft’s Hyderabad wi-fi team had been working with Imagination’s R&D engineers for the last three years.
