Human Rights conference in Azamgarh demands fresh probe of terror blasts

Azamgarh: A National Human Rights Conference held in Sanjarpur village of Azamgarh on 27th Feb. demanded fresh probe of all terror blasts in the country in the wake of the confession of Hindutva terror mastermind Swami Aseemanand. The conference also expressed deep concern at the rising political and communal influence on judiciary.

“On the target of state machinery are not only the Muslim youth of Azamgarh but also the poor adivasis of Chattisgarh where 650 villages were burnt and adivais were rendered homeless while hundreds are missing,” said eminent human rights activist Himanshu Kumar. He questioned the relevance of state rights panel and called for a joint fight for a new India.

“Where are the agencies like National Human Rights Commission? The war for a new India will have to be fought jointly by the innocent youths of Sanjarpur and the Adivasis of Chattisgarh,” he said.

The district of Azamgarh and its villages Sanjarpur and Saraimeer hit headlines after the Batla House encounter (Sep 19, 2008) where two youths from the Eastern Uttar Pradesh district were gunned down by the Delhi Police claiming the two were behind the Delhi serial blasts of September 13, 2008. More than a dozen youths from the district were later picked in Delhi and Azamgarh itself for their alleged role in several blasts in the country.

Noted activist and chief of ANHAD, Shabnam Hashmi while questioning the role of probe agencies said that even the connection between the conspirators of blasts in Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid – Swami Aseemanand and Sunil Josh – and BJP MP Yogi Adityanath has been exposed but he has not yet been questioned let alone arrest.

PUCL’ national secretary Chitranjan Singh demanded fresh probe in all blasts in the country, and expressed concern at infiltration of Sangh Parivar and their fascist ideology in judiciary. He also demanded restoration of secular values in the judiciary



Adv Mohd Shoaib from Lucknow lambasted so called secular parties like Congress, SP and BSP and said they in the garb of secularism are promoting the agenda of RSS.

RTI activist Afroz Alam Sahil, who jumped to fame for bringing out Batla House post mortem report, questioning the RTI law saying the communal bias is behind delay in getting RTI information.

At the occasion, Shamim Akhtar Sanjari’s book Lahu Lahu and documentary film Bhagwa Youdh were launched.
