4 students of Rahmani-30 in final round test for Mathematical Olympiad

Patna: Adding another feather to their cap, four students of Rahmani-30 has qualified for final round of selection to participate in 2011 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). They are Md. Faisal Karim, Md. Ashraf, Md. Misbahul Haque and Bashammakh Yazee. The Pataliputra Mathematical Society has selected 32 students out of 800 for the national level final round.

IMO is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country. The IMO 2011 will be held from 16-24 July in Netherlands.

In India, National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) and Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) jointly conduct test in two rounds to select candidates for participation in IMO. The test is conducted in several places of the country wherein students of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12thstandard appear.

The Pataliputra Mathematical Society conducted the test for students of north Bihar and Patna wherein 800 students appeared for IMO 2011. Of them, 32 have been selected for the national-level final round scheduled on 6th February 2011. The qualifiers of first round from across the country will appear in the final round. Only six students will be selected and sent by the Government of India to Netherlands to participate in IMO 2011.
