‘Muslim League has begun preparatory talks for the Assembly elections’: PK Kunhalikkutty

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Kozhikode: The state Muslim League as begun its preparatory talks in view of the Kerala Assembly elections, said party general secretary PK Kunhalikkutty. He was speaking at the press conference after the party state council meeting yesterday in Kozhikode.

Mr Kunhalikkutty said that the party would decide on the matter of seats in the elections after discussing with the UDF. The UDF will decide whether to take in INL to the alliance. INL should make the decision in the matter of merging with the League. The election manifesto of the UDF should include a development policy suiting to the environment and not affecting the future generations adversely. The state secretariat will make a recommendation based on this.

He said that it won’t bear fruits if the CPI (M) convened meeting of Muslim organizations now, doing nothing in all these years. Kerala is one of the states which did not do anything in the matter of the Sachar Committee Report. The policy of one post for one person, which is now implemented in the lower level of the party, would be extended to the higher level also. However, whether the national leadership will follow this or not is not yet decided.

He also announced that the party would open a centre in Thiruvananthapuram to help conduct studies on contemporary topics, under the CH Muhammed Koya Foundation.
