Delhi cop suspended after vigilance report

By IANS,

New Delhi: A station house officer (SHO), who was Sunday transferred to the police lines for squabbling over the jurisdiction of a robbery case, was Tuesday suspended after the vigilance report, police said.

Kailash Kukreti, SHO of Kirti Nagar police station in west Delhi, refused to register a robbery complaint, saying the area did not fall under the station’s jurisdiction.

“Seeing the vigilance report, the SHO is suspended from today (Tuesday). On Sunday, he was transferred to police lines because of dereliction of duty,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) V. Renganathan Tuesday said.

Four bike-borne robbers intercepted Vikas Khanna, 41, a plywood trader, in Kirti Nagar Jan 15 at around 11 a.m. The men snatched a bag containing Rs.15 lakh at gunpoint and fled from the spot.

Khanna was on his way to deposit the amount in the D-Block branch of Indian Overseas Bank.

The Kirti Nagar police station refused to lodge a complaint citing that the area did not fall under its jurisdiction. However, the case was finally registered after a lot of hassle and repeated attempts.

Earlier this month, Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta said that strict action will be taken against policemen found squabbling over jurisdiction rather than attending to cases.
