London : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in London Wednesday morning to start five-day visit to Britain.
Director South Asia Group, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Andrew Patrick and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) Dr. M. Sayeedur Rahman Khan, among others, received the Premier at the Heathrow Airport.
Later, the Prime Minister was brought to VVIP Lounge of the airport where Sheikh Rehana Siddique, youngest daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, All European Awami League President Anil Das Gupta and General Secretary M A Gani, UK Awami Adviser Sultan Sharif, UK Chapter of AL President Shamsuddin Ahmed and General Secretary Abul Hossain and Austria AL Leader Nazrul Islam received her with bouquets.
After completion of airport formalities, the Prime Minister was taken to London Hilton Park Lane Hotel by a ceremonial motorcade where she will be staying during her five day-official visit to the UK.
Sheikh Hasina who left Dhaka for Dubai en route to London Tuesday night is scheduled to join a programme at the House of Commons later Wednesday.
She will address the Oxford Union on “World Peace” Thursday afternoon.
Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Mayor of Sylhet City Badaruddin Ahmed Kamran, Ambassador-At-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary M A Karim, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, accompanied the Prime Minister.
