Bangkok : Political unrest in Egypt has trapped about 80 Thais at the Cairo International Airport for three days, said a Thai foreign ministry’s announcement here Monday.
Foreign ministry spokesman Thani Thongphakdee said 45 of them had got tickets for flying home while 17 others want to continue their flight to Europe. Besides, 17 Thai workers want to continue their journey to Libya, reported Xinhua Monday.
Thani said the Thai embassy in Cairo has been providing food for the stranded Thais for three consecutive days and now the ministry is considering sending aircraft to evacuate Thai people.
Thai embassy has also recommended that Thais should avoid untertaking travel to Egypt as the situation is deteriorating.
