Milind Deora: Young and savvy, he means business!

By IANS,

Mumbai: Having a good, secular image, savvy and modern in his outlook, Milind Deora is a typical Mumbaikar who means business.

Making his maiden foray as a minister, of course, thanks to his father Murli Deora opting to step out, the 34-year old already has two successive Lok Sabha victories to his credit.

Considered to be a ‘hands-on’ MP, with a laptop always a part of his personal things, and a personality of an upcoming executive, Deora Jr. is expected to continue in the same vein as the minister of state for communications and information technology.

At a time when youthfulness is back in the reckoning – nearly 25 years after the late Rajiv Gandhi first personified it – Deora Jr. effectively fits the bill, along with his education in business administration, followed by a course in the US.

A person who is at ease with the poorest of poor mill workers to the head honchos of MNCs who live and work in his VIP constituency of Mumbai South, Deora is expected to handle his new responsibility with the same passion.

He joined politics at his father’s prodding when he was just in his early-20s.

A good orator and skillful at debating, Deora enjoys an excellent rapport among the minorities who form a substantial chunk of his constituency as well as poor sections like mill-workers, slumdwellers and others who are surrounded by the glitter and glamour of the five-star, yuppie culture of Mumbai South.

He is married to Puja, daughter of Manmohan Shetty, former chairman of Adlabs Films Ltd, loves Shah Rukh Khan, plays the guitar, listens to western music, and does social work by making students of government schools IT literate and computer-savvy.
