Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has come under heavy fire from Opposition following the exposure of a big land scam in the state whereby real estate plots were allotted by his government to sons and daughters of ministers, MPs, MLAs of the ruling JDU and BJP, besides relatives of some IAS officers.
As soon as the state Assembly resumed the monsoon session on Tuesday, Opposition members stood up shouting slogans against Nitish government. They were demanding thorough probe into the land scam. Soon there was uproarious scene in the house as the Opposition stalled the proceeding. Succumbing to the pressure, CM Nitish has ordered state Chief Secretary to enquire into the allegations. He has also sought full list of the beneficiaries.
TwoCircles.net is the first news website to break the story about the loot of government land. According to official figures, the real estate plots of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority have been allotted to close relatives including sons and daughters of several ministers of the ruling alliance besides many JDU and BJP MLAs, MLCs and even blue-eyed civil servants.
The beneficiaries include HRD Minister PK Sahi’s daughter Urvashi Sahi, JDU MLA Jagdish Sharma’s son Rahul Kumar, Social Welfare Minister Perveen Amanullah’s daughter Rahmat Fatima, former BJP MLA Awdhesh Narayan Singh and BJP MLC Ashok Agarwal’s son Saurabh Agarwal.
Agarwal has got land in Bhajanpur village of Forbesganj block in Araria district. It is the same plot on which Auro Sundaram International is coming. The company has usurped the old approach road of the village and when on June 3 they came out to protest against the blockade of their road the local police in the presence of BJP MLC Agarwal opened fire and killed four persons including an infant and a pregnant.
Attacking Nitish over the land scam, Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan said the loot was not possible without the knowledge of the CM. He demanded a CBI probe into the scam. Opposition Leader and RJD veteran Abdul Bari Siddiqui said CM Nitish should explain as to how the plots were allotted to children of high profile people. Congress leader Sadanand Singh has also demanded Nitish to answer the allegations.
