Chandigarh : There were moderate to heavy rains in Chandigarh and various parts of Punjab and Haryana Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, met officials said.
Overcast conditions were still prevailing in this region and met officials predicted more rainfall.
“This rainfall has made the environment somewhat cooler and pleasant as compared to last few days. These are pre-monsoon showers…We had moderate to heavy rainfall in Chandigarh and in various parts of Punjab and Haryana last night and this morning,” said a met official here Wednesday.
“Clouds are still prevailing in most parts and we are expecting similar conditions to prevail in this region for a couple of more days. (We) expect actual monsoon to hit Punjab and Haryana only after June 15,” he added.
Maximum temperature in Chandigarh Tuesday was recorded at 36.1 degrees Celsius that was three notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 27.1 degrees, two degrees below average.
