Bengal removes five housing board officials

By IANS,

Kolkata : The West Bengal government has removed five officials of a housing board, including its vice-chairman, as it was “not satisfied” with their performance, a minister said Wednesday.

“We were not satisfied with the performance of the five officials. We have removed them. We removed the officials following instructions from the chief minister (Mamata Banerjee),” state Housing Minister Shyamapada Mukherjee said.

The government Tuesday disbanded the Bhangar Rajarhat Area Development Authority (BRADA), alleging that forcible land acquisition had taken place in the area during the Left Front regime.

Alleging that there was forced land acquisition at Rajarhat in the city’s outskirts during the Left Front’s tenure, the government also decided to halt the distribution of land.
