Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday held protests in Uttar Pradesh against the forcible ouster of yoga guru Baba Ramdev from Delhi, a party official said.
A BJP spokesman said demonstrations were on in all 72 districts. “The action against Ramdev and his supporters was a blatant violation of human rights,” he added.
The protests in some places were led by senior leaders including national vice presidents Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Kalraj Mishra and Vinay Kaitiyar. In Lucknow, MP and senior leader Lalji Tandon led the protest.
Ramdev is now in Hardwar after being forced out of Delhi following a midnight police crackdown that left several people injured amid charges of high-handedness.
