Patna: Did Ashok Agarwal, Member of Bihar Legislative Council, also fire at the crowd of villagers on 3rd June in the Bhajanpur village? While opposition leaders in the state have since day one demanded action against BJP MLC Agarwal and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi for the police firing, now an eyewitness has made a serious allegation against Agarwal.
Farooque Ansari has told TwoCircles.net that “Ashok Agarwal took rifle from a policeman and shot at the villagers.” Ansari reiterated the charge before the BBC radio also.
Ansari was working as a labor at Auro Sundaram International – the company whose acquired land has gulped down the old village road.
Narrating the incident on 3rd June, Ansari, who was inside the company premises at that time, said that while policemen were firing at the public the BJP legislator took rifle from a policeman and fired at the crowd.
Four villagers including a six-month-old boy and a five-month pregnant woman besides two youths were killed in the police firing. Nine others were wounded.
Agarwal’s son Saurabh Agarwal is said to be one of the directors of the company. Since the land including the road was leased to the company by Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), the villagers had been demanding the restoration of their road. When on 3rd June a group of villagers came out and demolished the newly built portion of the wall blocking the road, the police opened fire at them.
Even 10 days after the incident, the state government of Nitish Kumar has not taken any action against any police officer. Nor has it announced compensation to the victims. The state, however, has announced a judicial probe into the incident.
