JD-U Muslim leaders use Batla House to counter Cong attack on Forbesganj

By Manzar Bilal, TwoCircles.net,

Patna: For almost three weeks the Muslim leaders of the ruling JD-U did not utter a word on the Forbesganj police firing fearing lashes from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Now that the CM himself has opened his mouth only to say he has done enough by ordering a judicial probe, the Muslim leaders of his party are countering the attack of the Congress by raising the issue of Batla House encounter and Muslim terror victims.

The occasion was a conference called by JD-U Minority Cell on 23rd June in Patna to discuss the problems of the minority community and urge the government to find out the solution but all the minority leaders ended up appeasing Chief Minister and they applauded him for his ‘action’ in Forbesganj case.

JD-U MP Monazir Hassan, who visited Forbesganj after 15 days of the incident, appreciated Nitish Kumar for ordering a judicial inquiry and alleged Congress for flaming the issue. “We got tired of demanding a judicial inquiry into the Batla House encounter but Congress never listened to us. On the contrary we have decided to hold a judicial enquiry within 24 hours of the incident in Forbesganj”, he said.

Maulana Ghulam Rasool Baliavi too expressed his satisfaction over the action taken by the Nitish Government on the Forbesganj firing in which four villagers of Bhajanpur including an infant and a pregnant woman were killed on June 3. He criticized people for holding dharna and march demanding justice to the victims of Forbesganj. “These people should hold dharna for the implementation of Sachar Committee and Ranganath Mishra Commission reports that will benefit the community. As far as Forbesganj incident is concerned we should have faith in judiciary and wait for the report of the inquiry”, Baliavi said.

Baliavi, who is also JD-U Secretary, attacked the Congress. “If it is really sincere about Muslims then why it did not initiate to release the innocent Muslim youths who are behind the bar without any crimes under POTA and TADA”, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Minority Welfare Minister Shahid Ali Khan lauded Chief Minister for his initiative for the welfare of the community. “Due to his work Nitish Kumar became a favorite leader among the minority therefore in last assembly election minority even voted for BJP to bring him back to the power”, he claimed.

On Forbesganj he said: “During last six years oppositions did not find any issue to raise, so they are doing politics over Forbesganj incident. They are demanding CBI inquiry into the incident while our government has already ordered judicial inquiry which is higher than CBI probe.”
In his speech, MLA Dr. Izhar Ahmad said that people should not worry on Forbesganj issue because Nitish Kumar will do the same as he did into Bhagalpur riots case.

Bringing the matter of minority character of the Millat College, Darbhanga into the notice of Chief Minister, he said that the college had minority character since its inception but later it was withdrawn so he should make effort to get it back.

“Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad is ready to establish it campus in Darbhanga if it is provided with 52 acres land. So, please look into the matter because it will help the minority of the state to go ahead in education field”, he urged Chief Minister.
