New Delhi : Thailand-based Bangkok Airways Friday said it has started its first India operations by connecting Bangkok with Mumbai through six flights per week.
“Demands are there and we realised that there is still plenty of room to be filled in terms of seat capacity,” said Bangkok Airways president Puttipong Prasarttong-Osot.
According to him, the airline expects to carry an average of 60 percent capacity-load factor.
“The opening of Bangkok-Mumbai on March 2 and Bangkok-Dhaka on March 27 is part of the airline’s 2011 expansion strategy,” the company said in a statement.
The airline’s inaugural service to Mumbai, an Airbus 319, had a seating capacity of 118, including 12 seats in business class and 106 in economy class.
At present, the airline offers regional services to seven domestic destination in Thailand and seven international route, with a fleet of 17 aircrafts.
