Kerala goes to polls on April 13 to elect 140 legislators.

The survey predicted 77 to 87 seats for the UDF, which will get a 43 percent vote share, and 53 seats to 63 seats for the ruling Left Democratic Front, which will get 39 percent votes. The highlight of the survey was that the Bharatiya Janata party and others are likely to get up to 5 percent seats.

Anchoring the TV programme was its chief T.N. Gopakumar who said this was based on a survey done between Feb 27 and March 7 in 200 towns and 600 villages.

Another interesting observation in the survey was that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan was the most preferred chief minister with 32 percent votes in his favour, followed by leader of opposition Oommen Chandy with 27 percent. Defence Minister A.K. Antony came third with 17 percent votes.

The opinion survey also found that 18 percent of those surveyed were yet to decide on whom to vote for.
